Petrobras’ 2014 Annual General Meeting, held on the company’s headquarters on April 2^nd, was a historic event. Petrobras’ minority shareholders, among which foreign funds and individuals, joined and managed to elect two independent representatives for the oil company’s Board of Directors.

On April 7^th, Amec made contributions to the Public Hearing 43/2014 of the Central Bank dealing with investments of non-resident investors in Brazil in the country’s financial and capital markets. The Central Bank proposes that the regulation is standardized and simplified into only one normative instrument regarding the provisions related to the investments of investors who do not reside in Brazil, including those made by means of Depositary Receipts (DRs).

Amec organized another roadshow for foreign investors in March, during which it visited fund management firms. In addition to Blackrock and Franklin Templeton, which are already Amec’s members, the Association visited Calpers, Calsters, Brandes, GMO, Wells, Dodge and Cox, among others. Amec also had the opportunity to visit the Chief Policy Officer of Glass Lewis – an important link in many of Amec’s governance discussions.

CPC – Committee of Accounting Statements, and FACPC – the Supporting Foundation to CPC, launched FACPC/CPC website on April 25^th, the Accountants Day. The site brings useful and updated information to the parties interested in the convergence process of accounting standards.

The Global Network of Investor Association (GNIA) – network managed by ICGN (International Corporate Governance Network) that gathers several “Amecs” – held its 4^th meeting on April 8^th, 2014. The network, established after a suggestion by Amec, encourages collaborative efforts amongst the associations to identify points of convergence in their agendas and the possibility of mutual cooperation.

Amec will be represented by its CEO in the ICGN 2014 Annual Conference and General Meeting to take place in Amsterdam from June 16^th to 18^th with the theme “Expectations of investors and companies in the face of 21^st century challenges.”

Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha, Amec CEO, will participate in the plenary session on June 18^th addressing the new terms and territories of engagement of shareholders from all over the world.

Amec will also participate in the important discussion about the IFRS in London, on June 23^rd and 24^th, in the IFRS Foundation Conference: London.
