    Petrobras’ Board of Directors now has two independent members after its 2014 Annual General Meeting    

Petrobras’ 2014 Annual General Meeting, held on the company’s headquarters on April 2nd, was a historic event. Petrobras’ minority shareholders, among which foreign funds and individuals, joined and managed to elect two independent representatives for the oil company’s Board of Directors.

    Amec contributes to Public Hearing of the Central Bank    

On April 7th, Amec made contributions to the Public Hearing 43/2014 of the Central Bank dealing with investments of non-resident investors in Brazil in the country’s financial and capital markets. The Central Bank proposes that the regulation is standardized and simplified into only one normative instrument regarding the provisions related to the investments of investors who do not reside in Brazil, including those made by means of Depositary Receipts (DRs).

    California’s Roadshow    

Amec organized another roadshow for foreign investors in March, during which it visited fund management firms. In addition to Blackrock and Franklin Templeton, which are already Amec’s members, the Association visited Calpers, Calsters, Brandes, GMO, Wells, Dodge and Cox, among others. Amec also had the opportunity to visit the Chief Policy Officer of Glass Lewis – an important link in many of Amec’s governance discussions.

    New FACPC/CPC website is now live    

CPC – Committee of Accounting Statements, and FACPC – the Supporting Foundation to CPC, launched FACPC/CPC website on April 25th, the Accountants Day. The site brings useful and updated information to the parties interested in the convergence process of accounting standards.

    GNIA gathers efforts of global minority shareholder associations    

The Global Network of Investor Association (GNIA) – network managed by ICGN (International Corporate Governance Network) that gathers several “Amecs” – held its 4th meeting on April 8th, 2014. The network, established after a suggestion by Amec, encourages collaborative efforts amongst the associations to identify points of convergence in their agendas and the possibility of mutual cooperation.

    Amec debates regulation in the Americas    
    Amec participated in the regional meeting of the Americas of the Capital Markets Policy Committee (CMPC), part of the CFA Institute. The meeting took place in the end of March and was an important opportunity for Amec to contribute with the forum and also get closer to the CFA Institute, which gathers more than 100,000 investment professionals from more than 100 countries.    
    ICGN 2014 Annual Conference and General Meeting    

Amec will be represented by its CEO in the ICGN 2014 Annual Conference and General Meeting to take place in Amsterdam from June 16th to 18th with the theme “Expectations of investors and companies in the face of 21st century challenges.”

Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha, Amec CEO, will participate in the plenary session on June 18th addressing the new terms and territories of engagement of shareholders from all over the world.

    IFRS Foundation Conference: London – June 23rd and 24th, 2014    

Amec will also participate in the important discussion about the IFRS in London, on June 23rd and 24th, in the IFRS Foundation Conference: London. The event provides a unique opportunity both to gain an understanding of the thinking behind the IASB projects and to hear about the future direction of financial reporting directly from those responsible for setting it.
