Amec Investor Forum promotes debate with executives from Calpers and BlackRock
The Association of Capital Market Investors (Amec) will be holding the 2015 Amec Investor Forum at Insper headquarters, in São Paulo, on May 28. At the event, executives from Calpers and BlackRock will be joining Brazilian professionals to discuss the capital market landscape.
Entitled “Form X Essence – The Challenges of Investing in Brazil,” the event will bring two foreign speakers: Mr. Bill McGrew, Manager at Calpers – management company of health benefits and retirement systems in the United States -, and Ms. Michelle Edkins, Global Governance Head at BlackRock, US investment consulting firm.
“The Investor Forum reflects the evolution of Amec in its role of collaborating with concrete solutions for the challenges facing the Brazilian capital market and minority shareholders. For this year’s edition, we have invited executives from Calpers, BlackRock and prominent Brazilian professionals, providing our debates with even more quality and content,” explains Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha, CEO of Amec.

Insper’s professors Mr. Marcelo Adamek, specialist in fiduciary duties of managers, and Mr. Sergio Lazzarini, author of the books “Capitalism of Ties” (in Portuguese, “Capitalismo de Laços”) and “Reinventing State Capitalism” (in Portuguese, “Reinventando o Capitalismo de Estado”) will join a line up of speakers and panelists formed by prominent businessmen and executives in the domestic market, among whom Mr. Rômulo de Mello Dias, President and CEO of Cielo S.A.; Mr. Walter Mendes, Managing Director of the Brazilian Takeover Panel – CAF; Mr. Roberto Teixeira da Costa, member of the Arbitrage Chamber of the Market; Ms. Ilene Patricia de Noronha Najjarian, Federal Attorney of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission – CVM); Mr. Otavio Yazbek, former Director of CVM; Mr. João Laudo de Camargo, Partner at Bocater, Camargo, Costa e Silva Advogados; and Ms. Érica Gorga, Faculty Member of the Graduation and Postgraduation Law Program of São Paulo’s School of Law of Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV Direito SP).
The Amec Investor Forum is the association’s main annual event. The debates and speeches address issues such as restructuring operations, appraisal reports, management fiduciary duties, management compensation, and damages and compensation, among others, always illustrated with cases of major Brazilian companies, institutions and operations.
The 2015 edition of Amec Forum brought together more than 200 participants, among whom investors, regulators, CEOs, CFOs, attorneys and other important professionals from several market segments.
