ICGN publishes priorities for 2019

The International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), organization that gathers investors with global assets under management in excess of USD 38 trillion, published, in November, an updated list of priorities for the next year. The themes remain unchanged from the previous cycle and are grouped into 5 initiatives:

  • Promoting long-term investment perspectives and sustainable value creation;
  • Making successful stewardship a reality;
  • Building effective boards amidst the changing boundaries of governance;
  • Protecting minority shareholder rights;
  • Seeking transparency through robust reporting, audit and metrics.

Among the papers to be published in 2019 related to the above-mentioned priorities, the ICGN highlights actions on the exclusion of companies from investment portfolios, the role of investors and boards to oversee systemic risks, the interaction between shareholders and boards, the role of boards as to culture, artificial intelligence and innovation, capital allocation, and earnings guidance.
