Amec was one of the associations invited to participate in the “UK Green Finance Summit in Brazil”, held in São Paulo on April 26. The event, organized by the British Consulate, discussed the role of the capital market for green financing. In its presentation, the association introduced the Amec Stewardship Code and its efforts to encourage the participation of institutional investors when it comes to responsible management practices.
“We do not see ourselves as the “owners” of the Stewardship Code. In fact, we expect that all market participants take advantage of the document – as it happened in the UK market,” said Amec’s Vice President Fernando Tendolini, who represented the association in the event.
According to Tendolini, the Stewardship Code worked as the link among all attendees in the event. Charles Bowman, Lord Mayor of the City of London; Gustavo Gonzales, CVM’s Director; Fabio Coelho, Superintendent Director at Previc – the National Superintendence for Pension Funds; Priscila Gregov, Deputy Secretary for Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance; Murilo Portugal, CEO of Febraban; and Eliane Lustosa, Director at BNDESPar, in addition to several representatives of issuers and financial institutions, were also present in the summit.
