Amec supports the candidacy of Mr. Leonardo Pereira to the IFRS Foundation
In a letter sent on March 21, Amec expressed its support for the appointment of Mr. Leonardo Pereira to represent the Americas in the board of directors of the IFRS Foundation, institution responsible for preparing and disclosing international accounting standards.
In the letter sent to Ms. Sheila Fraser, chair of the Nominating Committee of the IFRS Foundation, Amec’s CEO Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha addressed Mr. Pereira’s long career. Chairman of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) from 2012 to 2017, Mr. Pereira is currently a member of the boards of Smiles, CCR and Intermédica, in addition to chairing Vale’s independent commission for recovery set up following the Brumadinho event.
On February 28, the IFRS Foundation announced it was seeking two new trustees for its board of directors, comprised of 22 people, one in the Asia and Oceania region and two in the Americas. The names of the new trustees are scheduled to be announced in January 2020.
