Localiza wins Amec Award for its Board of Director’s election practices

localizaLocaliza was the winner of the 2nd edition of Amec Corporate Events Award, handed out during the closing session of Amec 6th seminar, held on October 29th, 2013, in São Paulo, and attended by more than 200 participants.

Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha, the entity’s CEO, highlights that Amec Award is one of the major prizes to recognize companies that stand out in terms of their relationships with investors. “Amec Award has been consolidating itself as an important reference once it represents the direct opinion of those who are most affected by their decisions: the investors,” he states.
Localiza was chosen by most Amec’s members for adopting the election of its Board’s members on an individual basis and preparing materials sent to proxy-card so that investors could vote in favor or against each Board’s member via the proxy voting system.
Roberto Mendes, the company’s CFO and IR Director, highlighted that the search for the best corporate governance practices has always been a priority for Localiza. “This award demonstrates we are in the right path and that excellence will always be our priority,” he pointed out. He also stated that the company has an open channel for suggestions in the IR area.
During Amec 6th seminar, participants addressed the topic “Corporate Democracy – Rights and Duties of Shareholders and Companies” in an innovative format, focusing on the best practices used by companies in their communications with the market, from the disclosure of results in Shareholders’ Meetings to the ways corporations have been dealing with the changes in shareholders’ behaviors. The event counted on the participation of international speakers, who addressed activism stories from all over the world and their lessons for the Brazilian market.
